How to get to Guimarães

Via Oporto airport – Aeroporto Sá Carneiro

The closest airport to Guimarães is Sá Carneiro Airport in Oporto, about 50 km away. From this point, there are three ways to get to Guimarães:

1 - GETBUS – Visit the https://getbus.eu/en/guimaraes-airport-guimaraes/
portal where you can consult the GETBUS schedules to reach the Guimarães easily and for a fair price.

2 - Subway + train to get to Guimarães:

  • Get the subway (Line E) at the airport: direction Estádio do Dragão (violet line).
  • The stop-off is Campanhã, which gives direct access to the Railway Station, with the same name.
  • Trains (https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en) bound for Guimarães depart from the station of Campanhã.

3 - Taxi
Normally, one can expect to pay between 50€ to 60€ for a ride between the airport and Guimarães city centre. Within city limits, the rates charged are those shown in the meter at the end of the ride. But the average fare is calculated at €0.51 per Km after leaving the city limits. Any tolls (round trip) are paid by the client. On Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays, and Monday to Friday between 10p.m. and 6 a.m., a 20% rate applies to normal fares.
